Static Productions is the private studio of local rock engineer/producer Peter LaGrasse. Deeply committed to the independent rock based music community, the studio is genre specific focusing on rock type bands: Metal, Punk Rock, Indie Rock, Alternative, and Hardcore. Having worked with hundreds of bands over the past 10+ years, Peter has the experience, insight, and gear needed to make your project the best it can be. A pre-meeting is required before all bookings, all band members must attend. We will talk about your project specifics: budget, expectations, type of production, your gear etc.. Any and all information about the work can be found on this website, online samples, sample CD, email or phone call. Albums are booked at least two or three months in advance. Smaller projects, about a month. Recording your project at the studio is the preferred production method. Using state of the art gear and recording techniques the project can be captured at it's fullest potential in order to create the best possible mix. The studios core recording gear consists of Apogee A/D D/A converters and API mic pres, all running into the Apogee Symphony system with Logic Pro as the main digital audio workstation. Mixing your project in the studio using the hybrid digital and analog set up opens your recordings up in order to reach their fullest potential. Warmth, width, space and a lager than life mix can be created. The mix will then be ready for a proper mastering job. Got a project you recorded yourself, but need a proper mixing job to make it the best it can be? Did you record at another studio or in your practice space? The studio offers online mixing of your project and includes mastering as-well. Grab the mix preparation PDF, prepare your tracks and upload them to a personal FTP account created for you or upload with the online upload tool. The mix preparation document will guide you through the proper way to deliver your tracks in order to be mixed. Also available for download is a recording 101 PDF that explains some basic procedures for recording proper levels as-well as some basic microphone techniques. Mastering is the final step that will ensure your mixes sound the very best they can. Working with the final stereo mix ensuring that it is balanced and it’s over all volume is one that competes on a commercial level. We will be adding depth, width and warmth making your recordings sound like a record. There is no voodoo in mastering, no "magic," no "silver bullet." It is merely based on the proper use of Compression, EQ, Saturation, Limiting and possibly some sort of Clipping, but most importantly, it's the use of an unbiased ear in a well tuned and understood listening environment. The sonic treatment of the mix is just part of the mastering process.Download the mastering prep guidelines document. The pdf goes through how to deliver your mix in the best possible form in order to maximize the mastering of your material. Preparing the actual CD is the other essential part of the mastering process. Deciding on the "flow" of the record song to song, the spacing between the songs, the order of the songs. All of these come into play when turning your music into a record. Creating the replication/duplication ready master: You'll be making hundreds if not thousands of copies of your master CD. Lets make sure that it is an error free properly functioning master. An mp3 is only as good as what it was encoded with. Proper high quality encoders can make 256kbs mp3s sound like the original CD track. All mastering projects include multiple bitrate conversions. The goal for all of the productions is to achieve the very best results. Whether it's a demo or an album, the very best efforts are always applied to your project. Moving around the site you'll notice one thing, lots of samples from many different bands. Check out even more samples in the studio forum. Want an actual audio CD of samples sent to you in the mail? Just request a sample Cd by heading over to the What You Need page. For Recording and Mixing clients the studio offers hourly rates and discounted blocks of time. All bookings require a $100 deposit.
